1996 Aprilia Moto 6.5
The Philippe Starck designed Moto 6.5 was described as a “crime against motorcycling” when it was released in the mid 90’s. We think its a crime that nobody has ever made a fully customised version…..until now.
Meet the Moto 6.5.1
Inspired by an Australian Graphic Designer called Michael Bretherton of Charcoal Design in Brisbane, his computer rendering of a cafe racer style Moto 6.5 was all the motivation we needed.
Build sheet as follows;
- New Showa Honda Hornet front forks and lower clamp
- One off machined billet top yoke, with inset recess for digital dash
- KOSO EX-02 dash
- New aftermarket LED twin headlight
- Custom made headlight shrouds, top and bottom
- Custom made headlight hangers in aluminium
- Renthal clip ons and Renthal firm grips
- Brembo brake calipers front and rear (84mm front and 65mm rears) with Rizoma CT015 and CT025 fluid reservoirs
- Brembo Racing clutch and brake levers
- Front hugger from a Honda CBR1000, modified in house
- New EBC Inox VEE disc on the front and a Galfer wave disc on the rear
- New “stock” Bitubo monoshock for the rear, coil painted orange
- New DID VX GB chain with new sprockets (16T front 48T rear)
- Swingarm lengthened by 55mm
- Rear subframe modified and replaced with new seating loop
- Engine start with recessed key housing relocated to tool box
- New Aprilia Pegaso Strada cast wheels and wheel bearings
- New Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tyres - 150/60 ZR17 (66W) at the rear and 120/60 ZR17 (55W) at the front
- Seat unit fabricated in house and covered in perforated Alcantara
- New side panels and rear splash guard custom made in aluminium
- Tank, side panels and rear splash guard all carbon dipped using a hydrographic process to replicate the look of real carbon fibre
- New race style rapid locking fuel cap from Lightech for Aprilia Tuono
- New Aprilia Tuono switchgear for the both sides of the bars
- Paint was a mixture of RAL 2011 Deep Orange, RAL 9055 Jet Black and RAL 7021 Black Grey
- Frame and swingarm in Black Grey, radiator, front hugger and sump guard in Jet Black
- All decals custom made for this specific bike
- All new gaskets, oil seal stop ring, piston ring and polini manual choke lever
- New Rizoma Circuit 744 single mirror
- New Rizoma Scugardo bar end indicators
- Complete stainless bolt set for the whole build
- New battery, remote charging terminal and custom loom
- Akrapovic R3 exhaust can mated to a custom 2-1 exhaust header system
- Original sump guard modified
- Aftermarket rear light cluster with a custom light and number plate bracket
- Aftermarket cafe racer rearsets
- Custom side stand mounting point and modified sidestand
